Policy for Photos and Video Making
With its great collection of locomotives and other railroad artifacts, the Museum is a heavily photographed site. Visitors are encouraged to take pictures, subject to only a few restrictions:
- Photos should be taken in a safe manner that does not interfere with regular operations, the enjoyment of others, or involve any danger to visitors or exhibits. Photos requiring special access to locomotives not normally open to the public, or to non-public areas, require advance request.
- Flash photography of certain art exhibits is not allowed as posted, to protect the artifacts.
- Videos or photos for commercial publications or sale other than general newspapers and magazines requires special approval.
- Media and railroad publications may inquire about availability of special materials from our files to illustrate stories.
