Volunteer of the Year

Each year, the Friends of the  Railroad Museum and Museum Management select a member as Volunteer of the Year. This individual is also honored by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. This individual represents the high level of commitment and service that characterizes so many of our volunteers.

Robert J. Lawrence
has been selected as the Museum's Volunteer of the Year for 2012. 

A retired professional engineer and a charter member of the Friends group, Bob is an active and valued volunteer in various Museum departments. 

Bob has served on the Museum's advisory council and on the Friends board, including in the position of president, and was the recipient of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania's first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.  He resides in Kemblesville, Pennsylvania with his wife Barbara.

Bob will be formally recognized as volunteer of the year by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission at a ceremony in Harrisburg on Saturday, April 21 and during the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania's annual Members Day banquet in Lancaster on Saturday, September 22.
