Model Railroading Days
Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
and National Toy Train Museum
 This event, offered by two world-class train museums, will feature fascinating displays including intricately detailed, operating train layouts in various scales from model railroad clubs and historical groups, as well as hands-on sessions and presentations for all ages, skills and interests, from the novice to the veteran model railroader.
The Model Railroading Days hands-on activities and presentations will be confirmed at a later date and will be filled on a limited, first come basis. They are anticipated to include sessions like Building LEGO® Layouts, 10 Ways To Involve Kids In Model Railroading, Setting The Stage: Basic Scenery, On Track With Laying Track, Hopper Car Modeling, Benchwork, Painting And Weathering, Better Than The Box: Improving Model Kits, Building An HO Layout, Getting Started In Model Railroading, Creating Trees and Changes In Model Railroading. Many Model Railroading Days sessions also will be of interest to, and useful for, miniaturists and doll house hobbyists.
A super value combination ticket for admission to both museums during Model Railroading Days may be purchased in advance or at the door. The super value combination ticket is sold per person, per day, for only $10.00 for adults (ages 18 and over) and $6.00 for youth (ages 6 to 17). Children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge, as are members of the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and members of the Train Collectors Association.
An exclusive, self-guided tour of nine, beautiful Lancaster County private homes, featuring fascinating displays of operating model trains set amid attractively landscaped gardens, will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine.
The Garden Railways Tour ticket may be purchased for $6.00 per person (ages 6 and over).
Model Railroading Days tickets are now on sale and may be purchased at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and at the National Toy Train Museum during regular business hours, or by using a printable ticket request available on both museums’ web sites or by calling (credit card orders only) the Railroad Museum at (717 )687-8628, ext 3008, or the Toy Train Museum at (717) 687-8623. Model Railroading Days activities may be subject to change without notice.
Visitors to the Model Railroading Days program also will enjoy the interactive education center and the fascinating collection of more than 100 historic locomotives and railroad cars—some of which are open for inspection—at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, as well as the delightful collection of toy trains from the 1850s to the present and five operating layouts at the National Toy Train Museum.
