Since opening our doors to the public on April 22, 1975, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has preserved and interpreted the Commonwealth’s rich railroad heritage. We have engaged audiences by exploring the role railroads have played, past and present, in building our nation and shaping our daily lives.
Today, during our 50th anniversary year, we continue to look ahead to the kinds of locomotives and rolling stock, artifacts, exhibits and programs that can best keep the Museum’s railroad story dynamic and relevant for current and future generations.
We are fortunate to have construction begin in July during our 50th anniversary year on a much-anticipated and much-needed six stall roundhouse in the Museum yard.
Enjoy these photos from our 50th anniversary year and the roundhouse groundbreaking and construction!
