Railroading Merit Badge Workshops

  • The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is the perfect place to earn the Railroading Merit Badge! Scouts will explore historic railroad equipment, operate a G scale model layout, take part in an Operation Lifesaver presentation and more! All requirements for the badge will be earned in one day (no prerequisites required!). Eligible scouts will have their blue cards signed at the end of the day by a certified Merit Badge counselor.
  • Tickets for Railroading Merit Badge Workshops are sold on Eventbrite only. Limited to 25 individual scouts, ages 11 to 17. Scouts must be accompanied by an adult. Workshops take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • All future workshop dates will be announced on our website, social media and email list.
  • Railroading Merit Badge Workshops are held at the Museum monthly from March through November, with the exception of July.

Reminders:

  • Museum membership does not apply to the Railroading Merit Badge Workshop fee.
  • We require adult chaperones for scouts at all times.
  • Every effort is made to adhere to the schedule, so please arrive on time.
  • Lunch is on your own.
  • Scouts are asked to wear class “A” or “B” uniforms.

Virtual Railroading Merit Badge Workshops On Zoom

Scouts can earn the Railroading Merit Badge virtually in the months of December, January and February.  The workshop is held in one 3-hour session on Zoom, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., led by a certified railroading merit badge counselor. All requirements to earn the merit badge will be completed in the session, except the At-Home Requirements.
